about

This album was made as an experiment to see what I can do using an electronic drum kit as a midi controller to trigger samples instead of just programming the drum beats on a step sequencer. All drums in this album are played live on a Roland TD25 drum kit. As much as I enjoy playing drums, I prefer the infinite sonic possibilities electronic music offers that acoustic instruments, including drum kits, are not capable of doing. A drum always sounds like a drum, but the sounds triggered from electronic drum pads are ever changing into whatever sound you've created them to be, anything that may not even exist until you imagine it.

The album's title is a reference to Hive's track of the same name from the album Devious Methods.

"Ruff Rise" was made almost entirely of sounds from Distance's Foundation Drums Vol. 1 pack:

"Barrington" actually used one of the default kits from the TD25 drum module, real bass, and real guitar, with some electronic manipulation.
